London is a wonderful city and a perfect holiday destination for all those people who want to explore the many aspects of a city that was founded in Roman times. It is a very busy place and is cosmopolitan, with people of many different races living here, so there are many different cultures. In fact, the population is approaching the 9 million mark and the city is alive 24 hours a day.
If you are one of the 19 million visitors to London every year, you will need somewhere to stay, and many people do, of course, stay in a hotel. However, it is also possible to stay in one of the luxury apartments in London which are available to rent for short or long-term stays. These are actually increasing in number as visitors have come to realise the benefits of staying in one vis-à-vis a hotel.
When you rent an apartment you effectively have your own home for the duration of your stay. Many Londoners live in an apartment full-time, and you may even do so yourself at home, so it is very different from a hotel room. In a hotel you just have your room and the bathroom, and that is it. If you want to watch TV or just have some peace and quiet away from the other several hundred guests you just have to sit in your room, and perhaps have a drink or two from the minibar.
When you have a whole apartment to yourself, you just have so much more space. To begin with, you have a reception/living room, so you can sit and watch TV there rather than what in a hotel is basically just a bedroom with a small cupboard containing drinks. You can also invite guests round and chat, away from all the other people in a hotel lounge or bar: you have privacy.
In an apartment you have a bedroom which you just use for sleeping and dressing, rather than living in it as well. Serviced apartments also have a maid service, so the bed-making and cleaning is all done by the maid, which is the same as a hotel.
One thing you don’t have, of course, is a restaurant so you have to do your own cooking, but many people prefer this as it gives total freedom of choice, whereas in a hotel restaurant you are limited to whatever is offered on the menu. You can still go out to eat at one of the many local restaurants if you don’t want to cook.
The other beauty of an apartment is the cost. Luxury apartments are far less expensive than hotel rooms, so you have your own “home” for less, which has to be a big benefit.
